This piece is about self. We are all born exactly who we are supposed to be. No matter how much we, our family or society fight it. Too much time is spent deflecting instead of reflecting, fitting in instead of going inward, fearful instead of courageous. I created this piece in honor of my friends, family and everyone who has the courage to take that journey back to their perfectly imperfect selves. I titled this piece the Chaos of Gaia and Uranus to represent the very complicated relationships in our lives. Often beginning with the primal need of parental love and the extent we will go to receive it. Chaos in mythology represents the beginning of time. Gaia and Uranus were mother and son. Their co-dependency was the birth of self-destruction. All relationships are complex and have been since the beginning of time.

Symbolism: The pine tree and its pine cones throughout history symbolized human enlightenment and the pineal glands, eternal life. The penal gland named after the shape of the pine cone, controls our wake sleep cycle. The river birch symbolizing the perpetual shedding of skin/bark and rebirth. This piece represents our birth. Defining ourselves throughout our lives and arriving at a version of their original self in adulthood. The very complicated, painful, courageous journey of genuine self.
